American Gold Eagle Bullion

In the current uncertain economic environment, one of the most popular investment vehicles remains to be American Gold Eagle Bullion. First issued by the United States Mint in 1986, American Gold Eagle coins have become the best selling gold coins in America and one of the most highly regarded gold bullion investments in the world.

Available in 1/10 ounce, 1/4 ounce, 1/2 ounce and 1 ounce denominations, these beautiful coins are guaranteed to be made from United States 22 carat gold pure gold. The law inacted on December 17, 1985 put forward that the gold for these coins must be mined from sources within the United States. The coin's content is more than .916 solid gold,  and for added durability the Gold Eagle is treated with a metal alloy of copper and silver which creates a tougher, more scratch resistant suface. Gold Eagle coins are the only that are backed by the United States Mint for purity, weight and content.

As for the coin's obverse, it was designed by the renown sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens who created the portrait of the Statue of Liberty, surrounding her with fifty patriotic stars. This iconic design features a gorgeous, full length rendition of the Lady Liberty striding forward with her hair flowing while holding a lighted torch upright  in her right hand and clutching an olive branch in the left. The Capitol Building may also be seen in the background behind her.

The coin's reverse which was designed by Miley Busiek, features an eagle that is carrying an olive branch as he glides over the nest which contains a female with her newly-hatched chicks.

The American Gold Eagle Bullion coin remains a worthy addition to any diversified portfolio, and a great way to add physical gold as an investment vehicle.
