American Gold Eagle Uncirculated Coins
American Gold Eagle Uncirculated coins were introduced to the public in 1986 by the United States Mint. These collectible versions of the American Eagle Gold Bullion Coin feature a finish much like the standard bullion coin version. These beautiful coins are made available for purchase in 4 different denominations – 1- ounce, 1/2- ounce, 1/4- ounce, and 1/10- ounce, along with a 4-coin set containing one coin of each version.
Struck on special burnished coin blanks, these coins display the “W” mint mark which denotes the coin's origin of striking took place at the U.S. Mint at West Point. The obverse of the coin depicts Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ wonderful design which features Lady Liberty in full stride, grasping a torch with her right hand and an holding an olive branch in her left hand. The reverse design of the coin by renowned sculptor Miley Busiek, highlights a male eagle swoopingwith an olive branch above a nest which holds a female eagle and her hatchlings.
